World Laughter Day is a day marked to commemorate the importance of laughter in human lives. This day is a manifestation of world peace. It intends to build a feeling of brotherhood and friendship through laughter around the globe.

This day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year. World Laughter Day was initially established in 1998. The first celebration in India was held on July 28, 2008, in Mumbai arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.
